Két ukrán külképviselet is kapott „nagyon konkrét fenyegetésekkel” levelet ugyanazon a napon, amelyen a bombát tartalmazó csomagot elküldték Ukrajna spanyolországi nagykövetségére – jelentette ki Dmitro Kuleba ukrán külügyminiszter csütörtökön.
A tárcavezető az EBESZ miniszteri tanácsának a lengyelországi Lódzban tartott ülése alatt nyilatkozott az Ukrinform hírügynökségnek. „Ez egyértelműen a terror új formája. Nagyon aktívan együttműködünk a spanyol hatóságokkal, hogy kiderítsük, ki áll a háttérben. Természetesen sejtjük, hogy ki áll a háttérben, de nyomon kell követnünk az ügynökök és az érintettek teljes hálózatát” – mondta Kuleba.
Hozzátette, hogy szerdán „más nyugtalanító események is történtek, amelyek nem robbanóanyagokhoz kapcsolódnak, hanem nagyon konkrét fenyegetéseket küldtek ukrán nagykövetségeknek”.
Azt azonban nem árulta el, hogy a szóban forgó ukrán külképviseletek mely országokban vannak.
A külügyminisztérium vezetője szerint mindezek alapján elmondható, hogy Ukrajna ellen „célzott, nagyszabású hadjárat” folyik.
A madridi ukrán nagykövetségre érkezett levélbomba miatt a követség egyik munkatársa könnyebben megsebesült a kezén, amikor a bomba felrobbant. Spanyolország terrorcselekménynek minősítette az esetet. Az ukrán külügyminiszter utasítást adott az ukrán nagykövetségek biztonságának haladéktalan megerősítésére, és felszólította spanyol kollégáját, hogy tegyen sürgős intézkedéseket a támadás kivizsgálására.
