Ukrajna az örököse a középkori Európa egyik leghatalmasabb államának, a kereszténységet 1033 évvel ezelőtt ezen a napon Volodimir nagyfejedelem megkeresztelkedésével felvett Kijevi Rusznak, és „ez nem történelmünk része, ez a mi történelmünk” – jelentette ki Volodimir Zelenszkij elnök szerdán videoüzenetében, adta hírül a Levij Bereg hírportál.
A jelentés szerint Zelenszkij a Facebook-oldalán videoüzenetben köszöntötte az ukránokat abból az alkalomból, hogy 1033 évvel ezelőtt vette fel a kereszténységet „Kijevi Rusz – Ukrajna”. Mint Ukrajna magát elnöke köszöntőjében – Vlagyimir Putyin orosz elnök ukránokat és oroszokat egy népként aposztrofáló cikkére utalva – kifejtette: „nekünk semmit nem kell bizonygatni történelmi traktátumokkal, értekezésekkel, cikkekkel. A mi bizonyítékaink nem papíron, hanem fémbe és kőbe vésve léteznek. Nem mítoszokban és legendákban, hanem a városainkban és utcáinkban.”
Mint az elnök rámutatott, „Kijevi Rusz a történelmi anyánk. A 24 megye és a Krím félsziget pedig az ő gyermekei. A jogos örökösei. Az unokaöccsök és nagyon távoli rokonok pedig ne tartsanak igényt az örökségére.”
